There are drawbacks to using this method of therapy for relieving stress. This is because some people have learning disabilities and find it very difficult to read and write. Their penmanship may be hard to read or they might have problems focusing on emotions and thoughts as they write. In addition, when some people journal about negative thoughts it actually creates stress in their lives.
There are many ways to manage stress. Some people like to manage their stress through exercising and techniques. Yoga and stretching is favored also. The reason journaling is favored so much is that it provides stress management for people who are physically unable to exercise. It is easy and affordable for people because all they need is a pen and a paper. You don’t need to seek therapy for stress when you journal because it really does help a healing process when you write about your emotions. It does not relieve tensions in your muscles you might have from stress. You will still need to practice other things to loosen up tensions in the body. Bubble baths, saunas, stretching are a few ways to relieve physical tensions.
Of course, there is alternative to this method. Just go and get yourself some mixed martial arts equipment, find a good trainer and go blow off some steam.
